SUPPORTING COMMUNITIES IN NORTHERN NAMIBIA

Our aim is to help alleviate poverty in the northern part of the Omusati region of northern Namibia. This area is a very poor rural community where living conditions are incredibly challenging. Unemployment can be as high as 85%. Drought conditions prevail most of the year and access to clean water, electricity, good housing and sanitation are simply not available for many people.

We aim to help by supporting local schools and kindergartens. We believe that good education will form a gateway out of poverty over time. We are currently working to establish gardens at local schools that will provide nourishing food for the children. Having this food will enable them to concentrate better at school as well as improving attendance and learning outcomes.

We have also directly helped local communities by providing food and solar lighting. We have also helped set up small business enterprises providing employment for local people and boosting the local economy.

The Mopane Tree charity was formed from an existing relationship between the churches in Horwich in the UK and the local churches in Namibia. We are passionate about the power of the local churches to transform lives by introducing people to the good news of Jesus. We continue to work with the local churches and to support them in their growth and ministry.
